Esta semana tenemos dos actividades, ambas muy interesantes. Como ya es de costumbre, desde hace 5 meses (increíble, ya llevamos 5 meses con esto? no me había dado cuenta), se viene el Pizza Bash el día viernes 17 de Abril, como dice en la web de linuxtour
Es una actividad mensual informal para dar soporte presencial. Está organizada por Grupo de Usuarios Linux en Nicaragua y esta llegando a su quinta edición consecutiva. No hay charlas, no hay talleres, solo un grupo de personas reunidas para platicar sobre software libre y en particular GNU/Linux. Un espacio para contestar preguntas sobre problemas de instalación/configuración/actualización de software libre. Es también una forma de esparcimiento para salir de la rutina del ciberespacio y vernos cara a cara. Para poder asociar una cara a un Nick
Donde va a ser? en el Salón Sacuanjoche de Hotel Mansion Teodolinda, desde las 3 pm hasta las 7 pm, como dice la definición de Pizza Bash, al no haber agenda no importa la hora en que tengan que llegar y tengan que irse, lo importante es llegar y compartir con las demás personas que quieran saber sobre Software Libre 
Como su nombre lo indica, vamos a tener pizza, normalmente se hace una recolecta entre todos los que estan para comprar pizza y gaseosas, así que ya sabes, te esperamos el viernes 17 de abril desde las 3 pm hasta las 7 pm para hablar de Software Libre y comer algo de pizza.

YEAH! Thats right, today the Ubuntu Nicaraguan LoCo Team celebrated the second anniversary!!!! This community began on 2006 with less than 10 members and making conferences for 20 persons.
Two years later we are the biggest and better community in our country, members of the FLISOL, SFD, DFD organization and creator of the LinuxTour.
In this year, the Ubuntu Nicaraguan LoCo Team is working in new projects, supporting to national musicians like Q69K, Milly Majuc and Cecilia Ferrer and the Argonauts, we are helping these groups making their websites and making some talks to them about Creative Commons and benefits that will have if they license theirs work under CC.
I feel very proud to be part of a great community like this one, in this community i have found a lot of friends, we are like a big family and i like that.

Como ya algunos sabrán, en estos momento se esta planificando el 1er Encuentro Centroamericano de Software libre a celebrarse en el parque de ciencias Estelimar, ubicado en la ciudad de Esteli, Nicaragua. Este evento se celebrará del 17 al 21 de Junio del 2009.
Esta idea surgió ya hace algún tiempo con rmayorga (fue a quien leí por primera vez). A raíz de la creación de una lista de correos para formar la comunidad de Software Libre Centroamerica, se inicio a hacer llamado por país para elegir la sede y al final Nicaragua fue la elegida (para bien o para mal).
La idea del encuentro, es de trabajo, compartir conocimiento y conocernos entre las comunidades centroamericanas. Tendremos una sección donde intercambiaremos experiencias, otra de talleres donde transfiramos conocimiento que puedan ser replicados en comunidades locales posterior al evento. Y luego, una sección de mesas de trabajo, donde pretendemos elaborar documentos para proyectos de interés a nivel centroamericano siempre con el tema de software libre.
Aparte, un compañero de el salvador esta preparando una sección de “hacking”, donde se pretende, a manera de concurso, plantearle un reto a programdores y que se cree al menos el “esqueleto” de una aplicación, usando herramientas libres, de interes social para nuestros pueblos.
Por el momento no se cuenta con patrocinio para realizar el encuentro, por lo que tendrá un costo para los participantes que cubrirá, traslado al evento desde el punto de llegada a Nicaragua, hospedaje, alimentación y un paquete de bienvenida que se entregara al momento de presentarse al lugar. Estimamos que el valor del evento podrá andar entre 100 y 150 dolares.
En estos días, se estará abriendo un sistema de pre-registro, para que las personas interesadas en asistir puedan irse anotando, de esta manera, podremos realizar un estimado de la cantidad de personas que nos acompañaran.
Esperamos contar con la presencia de toda la comunidad Centroamericana, también se esta invitando a personas interesadas en asistir que no sean de Centroamerica, así que esperamos contar con presencia de linuxeros no solo de Centroamerica, si no de latino américa y de otra parte del mundo si asi lo desean.

1. Academico: Pues para el 2009 tengo pensado terminar mi tesis monográfica, aprender si se puede, un lenguaje de programacion. Hace algunos años habia tomado el curso CCNA, y este año me gustaria tomar el examen de certificación.
2. Laboral: Tengo pensado dos o tres proyectos laborales, espero poder realizarlos este año, aparte de seguir trabajando en el ISI e ir impartiendo poco a poco, mas cursos de software libre y así seguir levantando el negocio de la familia.
3. Comunidad de software libre: Llevar a niveles mas altos a la comunidad de usuarios de software libre de Nicaragua, dar a conocer el trabajo que se hace en Nicaragua en otros paises. Seguir promoviendo trabajos de migración, demostrar que aquí en Nicaragua SI hay personal para atender las necesidades de software libre. Poder reunir a la comunidad de software libre centroamericana!! va a ser un gran reto
4. Varios: Volver a natación!! tengo como 8 meses que no volví a nadar y la verdad me hace mucha falta. Aprender a tocar guitarra, otra cosa que inicie este año, pero no lo he terminado por pereza.
Seguramente algo se me olvidó y seguro habrán cosas que no pueda cumplir este año, pero bueno, las metas se ponen para mantenerse ocupado y no estar de vago

Two hours ago the SFI announced the result of the best event competition for the Software Freedom day. As the past year, there was three winners, two of the winners won the past year, the FOSS Nepal Community, the SFD Nicaragua and the new winner is DabaweGNU from Davao City in Philippines.
Once again the Nicaraguan Team won!!!! Im to happy to be part of a great community as the Nicaraguan FOSS community

Hace menos de una hora, acabamos de recibir la noticia por parte de Software Freedom International, organismo encargado de la organización del Software Freedom Day, que Nicaragua fue uno de los tres países seleccionados a nivel mundial junto con Nepal y Davao (Filipinas) como mejor evento a nivel mundial en la celebración de este grandioso evento.
Que puedo decir? Todo esto no pudo haber sido posible sin el apoyo de muchísima gente que sin pensarlo decidieron apoyar el evento, hay que dar gracias a la UCA, el ISI, clickmanagua, el SIMAS, rockfm, la sección de informática de el nuevo diario, a guegue, a neus de producciones revuelta sonora, a los milly majuc, los q69k, dj revuelta sonora, dj carbono 14 (que nombre mas raro 
ajjaa nuay falla maje), y muy pero muy especial a TODA LA COMUNIDAD DE SOFTWARE LIBRE DE NICARAGUA, que aguantaron regaños en sus trabajos, en sus casas, desveladas, trabajo duro, por poder llevar a cabo este grandioso evento.

I’m glad to announce that this year and thanks to the members of the Nicaraguan Linux User Group, the Software Freedom Day Nicaragua website will be multilingual, if you want to know about the SFD-NI event, no matter the language you speak. At this moment we have our site in five languages, Spanish (of course! ), English, German, Swedish and Esperanto.

The Software Freedom Day is an world wide annual celebration of Free and Open Source Software. It’s a public educational event, not only to celebrate the virtues of this kind of software, but also to promote the use and benefits to the attendances.
Right now, we’re working in the organization of the SFD-NI 2008 event. We have only 2 months to organize this event, the biggest FOSS event worldwide. It’s our second year working with the SFD Team, the first one was a great experience for us. We won the Best Event Award in the 2007 with Nepal and Beijing and we want to do it again.

As I wrote in another post, here in Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan Linux User Group is starting to work on an educational project for the public schools.
This particular school, Colegio Guardabarranco, is working since 2005 with 8 computers running Linex 2004. The kids are very happy because they learn a lot of things using this tool, and they are excited about to go to school every day.
The community is going to help the school. Our first task will be to update the OS from Linex 2004 to Linex 2006, install the wikipedia off-line (they don’t have Internet access), and install a local repo.
We will recycle old computers and bring them back to life with LTSP. This way, we’ll build a great computer lab, so more students may be able to learn.
